Looking Back on Our 2024 Azores CAB

This year's Customer Advisory Board (CAB) meeting was nothing short of extraordinary. Set in the breathtaking Azores, Portugal, we effectively blended adventure, bonding, and enriching discussions that will shape the future of Cobalt’s roadmap.

The heart of the CAB experience was focused on discussion sessions that provided a platform for open dialogue. These conversations tackled critical industry and customer challenges, directly influencing Cobalt’s upcoming initiatives. It was inspiring to hear diverse perspectives from practitioners across different companies, fostering a strong sense of community. Security is a team sport and we rely on each other to learn and grow; this comes through strongly in our deep partnerships with our CAB members.

A particular highlight of the session led by David Kosorok from Toast, whose presentation on "A Programmatic Approach to Strategic Application Security Testing" left a lasting impact. David shared his perspectives on how to build an  AppSec program but also how to engage across the company and initiate the cultural change required to incorporate security into the product development process. Cobalt is committed to bringing practitioners together in a supportive environment, enabling them to share knowledge and discuss their insights and challenges openly.

Another notable highlight was the unforgettable excursion to the west side of Azores, designed to foster meaningful connections. Small group breakouts set the stage for intimate interactions as participants embarked on private Jeep tours. Our journey included a delightful stop at a local pineapple plantation, where we indulged in fresh snacks, followed by breathtaking views at two key spots in Sete Cidades. One stop featured a picturesque hike to the Boca do Inferno viewpoint, and the other was the stunning Rei Miradouro viewpoint. We wrapped up the adventure with a relaxing gathering, enjoying local snacks and drinks at the base of the mountains, surrounded by nature’s beauty. The unique setting sparked engaging conversations that carried over into our discussions, enhancing the collaborative spirit of the event.
